we met eyes and instantly I realized she was the person staring back at you, not me

 I saw you look at me and yet I knew I wasnt who you were looking for… all at once I felt you go under drowning in sorrow, drowning in yesterdays

its ironic how much I aged in your eyes, how my eyes turned from green to brown and my voice was hers not mine

when I spoke I felt you cringe and the pain became the most unbearable emotion that clothed your whole body 

I sat immovable, scared I would break you from your memories sweeping through like waves, terrified at any moment your eyes would focus and you would lose everything. 

I wondered if you were thinking of her conversation of what color my eyes where.. or if you were reminiscing of home… and i realized it didnt matter what you were thinking about, this wasnt about me..

I dont know why it became my mission to keep you there, its not like I have any ties to you, or that I even knew her, I barely know you, I just knew it was not my place to break you from the grief.

maybe that wasnt fair… maybe I was wrong, maybe there and then was not the best place for grief but where is?

then all at once you broke the contact, looked down and the moment was gone, I was back to my self and I felt empty and lost. I looked up apologetically trying to convey how sorry and yet still trying to give you your dignity.
